Join ARLIS/NY at Pratt Institute Libraries for a tour of their special collections led by Johanna Bauman, Associate Director for Collections Management and Alex Austin, Student Success and Assessment Librarian.

Pratt Institute is an art, design, architecture, and information school with campuses in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Pratt's Brooklyn Campus Library is located in the neighborhood of Clinton Hill, in a handsome 1896 landmark building with interiors by the Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company. The mission of the Pratt Institute Libraries is to provide outstanding service and access to a resource-rich environment that facilitates critical thinking and creative teaching and learning in the Pratt community.

The Brooklyn Campus Library is home to a number of special collections that are used to support teaching and learning across the Institute’s programs. Special collections include artists’ books, zines, pop-up books, children’s books, ephemera, rare books, and 16mm films. In addition to touring the facilities and getting up-close to highlights from selected special collections, participants will have an opportunity to view the Libraries’ current exhibitions: #Synthetic: A Cabinet of Curiosities and Library Adorned: Jewelry Cuff Exhibit.

Chapter viewing of "Zine* Together" at the Asia Art Archive in America (6 Nov 2026)

Join the New York chapter of ARLIS/NA for a visit to the Asia Art Archive in America. This program will welcome new and returning visitors to Asia Art Archive in America for a tour of our reading room collection and current exhibition, Zine* Together. We will share information on the history of Asia Art Archive and how to navigate our physical and digital resources.

Zine* Together is the first exhibition of its kind to examine Asian American zines not only as objects, but as actions—creative, collective, and relational. Drawing from Asia Art Archive in America’s Reading Room collection, this exhibition highlights collaboratively produced zines from 2010 to the present, alongside newly commissioned projects and prompts that trace zine-making as a mode of shared authorship and community building. Zine* Together, itself a collaborative project, is organized by Claire Kim, Susanna Chang, Sarula Bao, Michelle Yee, Elizabeth Chung, Mary Y. Yang, Chen Luo, and Tasnima Tanzim.

Since 2000, AAA has been collecting primary and secondary materials surrounding recent art in Asia and our growing Research and Library Collections now contain over 120,000 records, ranging from publications and ephemera to correspondence, photographic documentation, and video recordings. To facilitate access and improve the user experience, AAA updates features on the digital platform, making sure these valuable resources remain available to users worldwide.

Chapter visit to Blue: The TATTER Textile Library (9 Nov 2026)

Join the New York chapter of ARLIS/NA for a visit to BLUE: The TATTER Textile Library. The visit will include a viewing of Shisha, Kantha, and Kachchh: South Asian Domestic Embroidery in the TATTER Collection, the first long-term exhibition in the Blue Library.

Shisha, Kantha, and Kachchh: South Asian Domestic Embroidery in the TATTER Collection pulls together and highlights pieces from the collection that present domestic textiles as works of art and their makers as artists, this exhibition includes shisha mirrorwork panels, kantha-stitched coverings for the home, and Kachchh (Kutch) dowry bags. These objects incorporate traditional motifs reflective of rural and nomadic life in the delta and desert regions of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. While they display the creativity and individual hands of the women and girls who made them, they also show signs of life in their wear and stains.

BLUE is an exercise in legacy, interweaving the personal collections of three women: Edith Robinson Wyle (1918-1999), founder of the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles; her granddaughter Jordana Munk Martin, founder of TATTER; and Carol Westfall (1938-2016), renowned fiber artist and professor.

Registration will be capped at 15 attendees. Attendance is limited to chapter members.
