Schedule:
“Dear Library Patron: Letters are UX too!” Phoebe Stoneking, Digital Services Librarian, School of Visual Arts Letters are part of the user experience of a library; creating friendly, understandable, branded communications enhances the patron experience. During summer 2023, I undertook a project to clean up and streamline the automated letters sent to patrons from the SVA Library's Alma ILS. Through a systematic process, I reduced the number of patron-side letters from 83 to 6 and internal letters from 54 to 7, updated the letters' xsl stylesheets to modify the salutation and styling, and reformatted the footer to include social media handles and a link to the patron's library account.
“Ciao-llenge Accepted: Reorganizing the Collection at the Germano Celant Research Center” Calista Donohoe, Library Consultant, Magazzino Italian Art Foundation As a recent library science graduate, I was hired as a consultant for the Germano Celant Research Center at Magazzino Italian Art, a museum specializing in postwar and contemporary Italian art. My work to date has focused on establishing new organizational practices for the collection and planning for the migration of data to a new integrated library system. In this talk, I will discuss the initial state of the collection; the research, resources, and methods that I used to develop a new framework and standards; and the next steps for implementation.
“ADA Title II Web Accessibility Guidelines and Your Institution” Hannah Fountain, UX and Web Services Librarian, Pratt Institute Libraries In spring 2024, the Department of Justice issued its final rule revising title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), establishing specific requirements for public entities related to digital service, programs, and activities. This brief primer will cover the recent ADA title II updates related to digital accessibility from the vantage of an academic library, including guidelines, resources, considerations, and implementation timelines.
