The New York Chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America, an organization that fosters excellence in art librarianship and the visual arts, meets several times a year at various libraries, museums and other institutions in the city and surrounding area. Frequently, architectural tours are offered to the membership giving members an even richer appreciation of our city.
Programs are designed to provide members with introductions to new technologies, new cultural institutions and to current artistic activities. It is a marvelous opportunity to meet fellow art library and visual art information colleagues from the area. Members include art librarians, both active and retired, and visual resource curators from academic, museum, public, and other special libraries, as well as specialized book dealers and graduate students in library and information science from the New York City area.
The Celine Palatsky Travel Award is given annually to support member travel to the ARLIS/NA annual conference and promote professional development.
The association published ARLIS/NY News twice a year to report on news, member projects, and events in the community until 2012. An archive of past issues is available. Current membership news is posted in our Articles section.
